God’s Promise to the Eunuchs

Filed under: Uncategorized — ononehand @ 3:30 am

I look into your eyes, caress your cheeks, your shoulders, rub my thumb around your smooth lips, and whisper. Don’t listen to them. Can’t they see what they’re doing? If only they knew the harm they cause. Each time they use their religion to justify their bigotry, they take the Lord’s name in vain. Each time they claim the Word of God for intolerance and exclusion, they drive their rusty nails deeper into the flesh of Christ. Can you hear it now, the dull clank of metal on metal, driven into the hard, dry wood of the Cross? The sounds creak out from the hands and throats of those polemarchs of hatred, through the din of their dry voices, saying that love is sin. Do you still hear them?

I can’t hear them. I’ve grown deaf to the cacophony. All I hear is the blurred murmur of the television on low, and the soft rush of air in your nostrils, so close across from mine. All I see is you, your sweet face, your teary eyes; the world beyond you has grown dark. Close your eyes, love, close them. Feel my warm hand on your chest. Feel my fingers gently lock around yours, and know that we are bound together by God.

  1. Thanks! And, did I? I don’t remember. I tried to look back but I can’t get in to your journal. Do you remember what I said? That might help.
