Human relationships aren’t made to be emotionally rewarding. They’re made to get people to fuck and have babies.

At best, they’re intended to get people to feel dependent on each other and cling to each other, forming a family colony for mutual protection, and thus increasing the chances that the offspring will survive. In no way does this imply that anyone should feel “good.” Your mind tricks you into thinking relationships are rewarding in the same way it tricks you into thinking drugs are rewarding. You are held together by feeling lonely and desperate without each other, and tortured and dependent with each other.

It’s survival. It isn’t athstetic.
