not much to see here

not much to see here
just a white kid in brown
kissing a boy in the back seat
books and pencils scattered through the cab

not much to see just
skinny fingers squeezing for juice
from dry dirt
begging the nothing to grow
pressing till the last bit
of strength just pops
into quiet

not much to see
just me asking
the boy to hold on
just hold me
till the lights come on

Cracks split the old gray
asphalt while his hairs
melt together in the heat
he knocks
and all the windows in town
are on the same side of all the houses
facing to watch him
pointing to see the door stay closed
he laughs he sighs he
slithers home in silence
