I haven’t written a Democratic nomination poll in a long time, so here goes:

  1. The poll is too complicated for me so I’m just going to express my thoughts freeform.

I like Mike Gravel a lot. Have from day one. If the media hadn’t ignored him I think other people could have risen to support him too. I’ll still vote for him if he makes it onto the ballot in some form. NY is pretty much guaranteed to go to whoever the democratic nominee is anyway. I could have stood behind Richardson. Passionately hated Edwards. Liked the straight talk Kucinich offered but knew I could never elect a socialist. And found Clinton and Obama to be rather uninteresting candidates for the presidency despite how obvious it was as soon as the debates began that it would come down to them.

Between Clinton and Obama, my vote is strongly for Hillary. I can’t figure out what Obama stands for. I want like his whole promise of “change” but I can’t find anything that makes clear his plan for that change or even the content of that change. Hillary doesn’t exactly strike me as the best president either (even McCain’s track record inspires more positive faith in ways and I consider voting for him a very valid option) but at least I KNOW exactly what I’m getting from her. Obama just makes me nervous. Like a sleazy used car salesman with deliberately vague claims of which even he might not yet know the meaning. The more I follow him the less I like him.

    • Have you ever read any of his books?

      • I picked one up and flipped through it a bit. Can’t remember which. But didn’t read it seriously. I did find one hysterical passage where he pretty much stated agreement with me about himself, saying (and I paraphrase) that he expects America to be seriously disappointed with him because people don’t know what he really stands for and are all just imposing their own ideas of positive change onto his platform.

      • But all his books were written before he had a platform and before he was running for president…

      • He could have been talking about the senate race or whatever. Like I said. I wasn’t seriously reading. I might have to finally.
