I’ve been brewing my own Kombucha Tea lately so I made a video on how you do that:

      • Much later: sorry.

I don’t remember if I’ve talked about it with you or not.

        In essence:

I liked LJ, but used it very differently than you do; I did it for instant creative gratification. It was easy and appealingly effortless to publish something that combined both writing and visual elements, spontaneously. I started out not considering any sort of audience, just writing as a means of keeping momentum up; I had several writing projects (offline) that I’d wander away from, and then I’d get out of the habit of writing at all. I had hoped that creating LJ content would keep me limber, so to speak, and it did for a while until I drew a small audience. Then I became hopelessly self-conscious, and even more significantly, I developed a fondness, an attachment to a pretty large group of people.

I began creating content tailored to that audience, and shortly, it started to feel like an obligation. Also, once I’d actually befriended and developed relationships with some of those people, it felt really insincere and posture-y to continue to write in anything approaching an interesting or creative voice. In short, I felt really douchey and at the same time, became resentful about having to keep up with content.

So I stopped posting, and now I only comment, aside from email relationships with some of those people. I almost never add anyone, because it’s kind of unfair/one-sided since I don’t intend to post new content here. But occasionally, rarely, I stumble across someone whose opinions or voice I don’t want to miss.

I still post images to my flickr account, though (I suspect most people on my Flist were primarily interested in projects I was working on anyhow.)

        So that’s why.
